The Dots Connect Eventually
My Debut vocal album is out nooowwwwwwww
Some of the best advice I ever received was from a person I met on the 10th day of a silent meditation retreat, after the silence was lifted and we were allowed to speak with each other. I don’t remember how we got to this point in the conversation, but he said “set big goals for yourself, but don’t attach a firm timeline to them. Keep them in mind as you make choices, but allow yourself to follow the meandering path of life to get there.” This has really stuck with me. I’ve meandered. a lot. But I’ve really kept a sense of the threads that connect the different parts of my life that may not at first appear connected.
Not only is that what’s inspired the name of this album, it’s also what the experience of making it has really felt like. I’m so excited to be sharing this huge milestone in my life with everyone. My debut vocal album, The Dots Connect Eventually, is out in the world for everyone to listen to! Available on all platforms, though direct support via bandcamp is preferred!
The oldest song on this album (All in Motion) was started in early 2020. Lyrics in some of the songs are even older than that, pulling from poetry I wrote throughout the 2010s. There are collaborators on this project I’ve known for 15+ years. And others who I only met recently, introduced by mutual connections. I’ve worked on this project in Seaside, Berkeley, Valley Ford, Moraga, New York, and Jamaica. I’ve been consumed by this project. And I’ve taken loooong breaks from working on it at all, and completely forgotten about it at times. I’ve spent long weekends in retreat mode focused on nothing else. I’ve received soooo much support from friends and family in making this creation a reality. More so than any other musical work I’ve created, this feels like it captures so much of who I am.

Executive produced, creatively directed by the legendary Ashraf El Gamal. He didn’t miss on a single suggestion. He co-wrote the track Let it Go. He said no to a lot of absurd ideas I had, and gave an emphatic yes to many others. A long weekend retreat the two of us took in early 2024 is when this album really began to take form out of a mix of many different songs I’d been making over the years. Deeply grateful for all of his support. This project just wouldn’t exist without him.
